Statement Earrings

8/20/2019

I tend to wear a lot of basics and neutrals in my wardrobe.  It's cost effective, and there just aren't too many occasions that I need to wear something super trendy.  I find that statement earrings are a great way to update a classic piece to show your personality!  Which pair is your favorite?

Remy + Rose Boutique in St. Louis, MO Try On Session: Summer to Fall Transition

8/16/2019

I recently filmed a try-on session for my Instagram Story, and snapped a few photos to share here on the blog.  I went to Remy + Rose Boutique located in St. Louis, MO with the goal of putting together outfits for that summer to fall transition that is upon us.  I think a lot of these outfits could transition by switching out the sandals for booties, and layering a jacket for chilly nights.

Floral Dress, Black Felt Hat & Black Espadrilles
Remy + Rose Boutique
Ivory Sweater & Olive Bralette
If you couldn't already tell that I loved them, I came home with those ripped Cello jeans--they fit like a glove without any awkward gapping in the back.  I also took home the black Hi-Lo top because it made me feel like Beyonce!  That olive green bralette and ivory sweater are on my wishlist, and I have that felt hat in a dark gray from the boutique.

Remy + Rose Boutique also has an online store that you can shop here if you are not local to St. Louis.  They are located inside of All For You MedSpa.  I have posted a few other blogs about Remy + Rose Boutique here and here.  Have you shopped at Remy + Rose Boutique yet?  My followers can use the code FANCY15 to save 15% on their purchases.

Review of Revlon Lip Products

8/13/2019

I recently received three Revlon lip products (gifted) to review including a lip gloss, lip liner and a lip polish.  One product was an obvious winner and one an absolute fail!  Keep on reading if you are interested in my experience with these Revlon lip products.
Revlon Lip Products

Revlon Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish: https://shopstyle.it/l/6NjW
CLAIM:
Revlon’s Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish gives you lacquered lips in one swipe, is infused with Vitamin E and Shea butter, and has a precise applicator for smooth application.

REVIEW:
I received the shade Berry Blissed, an ultra shiny berry shade perfect for fall!  I really liked that this product felt nourishing and was easy to apply.  This delivered a high shine vinyl finish that makes for a great photo!  My only concern with such a bold and moisturizing product is that it will move--and it did ever so slightly into the corners of my mouth with just talking.  I would not recommend wearing this product in a deep shade if you are attending an event where there is eating and drinking involved.  It will end up all of your glass and your face!  If you are going to brave this scenario, then I recommend that you bring a mirrored compact and the Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish for touchups.

Revlon Super Lustrous The Gloss: https://shopstyle.it/l/6Nmw
CLAIM:
Revlon Super Lustrous The Gloss provides glossy color, non-stick shine, and a new formula with agave for moisturized lips.

REVIEW:
I received the shade Rose Quartz, which is a glossy holographic pink.  I loved the packaging as soon as I saw it.  It has a very high-end vibe with the font and gold lettering.  This has the biggest wand/doe foot applicator I have ever seen on a lip product.  This is apparently called a reservoir tip and was designed to saturate the lips with color.  Revlon claims that this Super Lustrous Lipgloss is not sticky or tacky, but I don't 100% agree.  While I did not find this lip gloss to be sticky, I did find that it had a slight tackiness to it--the kind that means the gloss will be on your lips for awhile.  In lipglosses, I always tend to lean toward these lighter shades due to ease of application and the ability to reapply on the go without much afterthought.

Revlon Colorstay Lip Liner: https://shopstyle.it/l/6Nmx
CLAIM:
Revlon’s ColorStay Longwear Lip Liner gives you flawless application with color that applies evenly, defines lips, and lasts all day.

REVIEW:
I will start by saying that maybe I received a bad liner.  Maybe.  It was awful!  It immediately broke and then broke inside of the included sharpener when I tried to fix it.  I gave up and applied it to my lips with it's flat top, only for it to continue to crumble onto my lips.  I have never seen anything like it.  There used to be a Revlon liner that was my holy grail, and it was nothing like this one!  I received the shade Wine and it was recommended that I pair it with mauve & berry shade lipsticks, so I applied it underneath the Berry Blissed Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish.

I strongly encourage you to check out my First Impressions video on these three Revlon lip products.  Some of my favorite videos are first impressions because it is a completely raw review.  Have you tried any of these Revlon lip products?

Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder Review

8/8/2019

I’ve been using this product for a couple weeks now, so here is my review! This product is a little difficult to get out of the pan, I usually have to rub my brush across it a few times to pick up any powder. This is a finishing powder, so it is not meant to set makeup or add any additional coverage. It has a slight peach tint and very light shimmer, almost like a veil. I do feel like it blurs imperfections , pores and light texture. If you have dry patches or heavy texture, this product may not be for you. I would apply sparingly, again as it is a finishing powder and should be applied as your final step.

This does leave a slight peachy/pink tint so depending on your skin tone it might not work for you. I tend to have peachy undertones anyway so I didn’t notice much of a difference. I am definitely happy I picked this up to try & especially for that price! And hello! The packaging is adorable.

Did you shop on Amazon Prime Day?  I never seem to go for the big ticket items, but found some great deals in the beauty section!  I have always wanted to try the Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask & Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream, so this was the perfect opportunity to check them out!  I also purchased this great set of earrings!  They were not a prime deal, but they work out to be about $2 a pair!  Click the photos below to go straight to the Amazon listing if your are interested!

My Favorite SPF and Sun Products

8/4/2019

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know how important it is to take care of and protect your skin in the summer.  You will want to look for a sunscreen that offers both UVA and UVB protection.  UVB rays play the greatest role in producing sunburn and causing skin cancers.  UVA rays also play a role in causing skin cancer, but they also cause premature aging, including wrinkles!

Hawaiian Tropic Antioxidant Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 With Green tea extract
I really like the way this sunscreen feels on the skin and it blends in really nicely.  I prefer to use SPF 50 or higher when going to the beach, because of the sun's rays being reflected off of the sand.

Coola Classic Sport Face SPF50 White Tea
I received this SPF in a FabFitFun box and have enjoyed using it this summer.  It feels nice on the face and absorbs well without leaving white streaks.  This is also a moisturizer, so save space in your travel bag with this dual product.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Weightless After Sun Lotion

If you find that despite your best efforts to reapply every 2 hours, I really enjoy using this after sun lotion.  It contains aloe, but I prefer this over straight aloe because this does not leave a sticky feeling.  When on vacation, I use this as my body lotion, burned or not.  Being in the sun can dehydrate your skin, so it's best to restore the moisture.  I prefer to apply this straight after a shower.

  • 90% of aging is caused by sun damage
  • 10am-2pm is when the sun's rays are the strongest
  • 1oz of SPF should be applied when wearing a swimsuit
  • Water, Snow, and Sand can reflect the sun's rays so use caution!
  • Use a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher to protect not only against sunburn, but reduce the risk of skin cancer and premature skin aging caused by the sun.
  • In addition to applying SPF, seek shade, wear a hat and avoid peak hours.

Throw on this sweet little tiered babydoll dress, flat sandals and stud earrings and head to the farmer's market this weekend.  Don't forget to put your sunnies and some cash in your little straw handbag so you can taste the last of summer's sweetness.

ColourPop Mar Palette Orange Eye look with a Pop of Teal

8/1/2019

The ColourPop Cosmetics Mar Palette has easily been one of my favorite eye shadow palettes of the summer.  I find the color combinations to be very versatile, allowing natural and creative looks alike.  I did a more bold look for my birthday and you can check it out HERE.
Picture
I started by buffing Sorbet into the crease as a transition color.  I placed Wild One on the outer half of the eyelid and Boozy on the inner half.  Sometimes I'll stop right there and keep the look neutral, maybe running Wild One along the lower lashline.  But I decided to add a little pop of color to this look and used a combination of Gridlock and Hwy on the lower lashline.

Marshall's Haul July 2019 & My Tips For Finding Name Brand Makeup at Marshall's

7/30/2019

I've been in and out of Marshall's recently treasure hunting and found some really great things!  I always make sure to check out the beauty section and here are my tips for finding the goods:
  1. Make sure your phone is charged.  I always load my cart with the name brand items and then google each one for reviews.  Some products are there because of overstock, rebranding or simply because they are crap.  You can also see what the product is selling for elsewhere since the compared to pricing on the sticker isn't always accurate.
  2. Check EVERYTHING, especially if it is a powder product!  I always remove the product from it's package and examine it to see if it has been swatched, tested, used, broken or dug into.  ALWAYS put it back inside of it's box and return to the shelf if you don't plan on buying it.  I see SO many products out of the box and cluttering the shelves.
  3. If you are purchasing a lip product, mascara, etc USE CAUTION.  For lipglosses, I barely pull the wand out of the tube to see if it has been tampered with.  I don't want anything that's touched someone else's mouth--yuck!  You know once you pull the wand out of the tube it's game over.  If it is "clean" it is probably safe.  I have noticed some stores will put the nicer lip brands inside of those tamper-proof boxes so I imagine that will prevent damage as well.
  4. Don't be afraid to dig!  You have to be in the mood for this venture.  People might stash the good stuff behind other items to come back for later.  Crouch down, move things around (and then move them back!).  I have found the best items (a MAC brush, Shiseido eye lash curler, etc) by digging!  Use caution if you are anemic or have blood flow issues.  The combination of crouching down to check out the bottom shelf and the excitement of finding something good gives me a head rush!
  5. Bring hand sanitizer/wet wipes.  This area, especially the clearance section, can get nasty, y'all.  People don't put things back, break things, get lipgloss everywhere.  My hands get sticky EV-ER-Y TIIIIME!

Check out my YouTube video below for my full haul!  I have been using the Too Faced products and really like them!  The Sweetie Pie Bronzer would definitely be best for fair to light/medium skintones as it is not that dark.
